Google Pixel 4a launched at $349, another impressive camera experience

Google Pixel 4a Official Render Leaked 1280

Apple took the market by storm amidst the Corona Virus pandemic, by launching the cheapest iPhone yet, the iPhone SE 2020. It had all of the great under hood features including the A13 bioinic chipset, a great camera that almost beat the iPhone 11, and it still came at just 399$.

In the following months, Google has been very well building up to the Pixel 4a launch, the successor to the very famous Pixel 3a. While Google deciding to make the announcement today, i.e 3rd of August, seems a little spooky because the OnePlus Nord (the other budget friedly Android phone) goes on sale official tomorrow, i.e 4th of August. Almost as if to put a stop to the OnePlus Nord sales even before they start.

Let’s talk about the Pixel 4a.

It’s simple and clean

The new Pixel phone, comes with a fresh display that flaunts a hole-punch design. The Pixel 4a is also a watered-down variant of the Pixel 4 that Google brought last year (but it wasn’t introduced in India, unfortunately).

There are three versions of Pixel 4a. While the non-5G version is coming to India, the other two 5G versions won’t be launched here. The handset will be going on sale in the US, UK and select other countries first. However, in India, it will be coming in October this year. The smartphone costs $349, roughly ₹30,000 but it could cost more when it launches in India.

Since the Pixel 3a was Google’s budget phone with a great camera, and the Pixel 4a is all of that, and with some more.

The highlight of Pixel 4a is its camera capabilities, most of which have been brought from the flagship Pixel 4. There is a 12.2-megapixel rear camera with Dual Pixel tech, HDR support and OIS. The camera comes with Portrait Mode, Top Shot, Night Sight with astrophotography and fused video stabilization features. At the front, there is an 8-megapixel wide-angle selfie camera with 84-degree field of view.

There is a 5.8-inch FHD+ resolution OLED screen with HDR+ support and a punch hole design. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G, the device is also compatible with 5G support. This is in addition to 128GB inbuilt storage and 6GB RAM with eSIM support. As we’ve seen in the past, Google has always proved that it can make any processor run fluidly thanks to it’s awesome software experience. Accordingly, the 730G should be able to help you get through almost everything.

Pixel 4a is backed by a 3140mAh battery, which also supports 18W fast charging via USB Type-C port, and adaptive battery. Besides this, you get Titan M security and physical fingerprint sensor at the back. It also has stereo speakers. Some other features are Live Caption in videos across apps, 3 years of OS updates and audio recording via Google Assistant.

All in all, Pixel 4a is going to be the most reccomended Android smartphone as it clearly overpowers the Nord in camera and user experience.
